| Q. How far does a tonne of Hatuma Stone
go?
A. As a rule of thumb, approximately 6 - 7 square metres
depending on what you are doing with it.
Q. What do you use for the mortar?
A. Depends on preference. To get a whitish appearance as
in the photos, Hatuma agricultural lime has been used in the
mix with white cement rather than the standard grey. Architects
or your contractor will be able to give you suitable advice.
Q. How old is the limestone? Will there
be fossils present?
A. These stones are sourced from a site that is estimated
to be two million years old. Each rock has its own characteristic
and some certainly have fossils easily visible.
Q. What’s the process that the
rocks go through before they are used?
A. The stones are individually selected by experienced staff
for their uniqueness, grain, size and colour. In fact, for
every rock used, two or three are rejected. They are then
split by a machine to the stones natural characteristic.
Q. What is so special about the paving
stones?
A. Natural limestone from our quarry together with white
cement is all that is used in making each tile – there
is no artificial colouring added. This in turn helps compliment
the Hatuma Stone features. |
